Nicki Minaj fought Kanye over 'Monster' verse. – Explica®

It's the seventh anniversary of Kanye's classic Monster, and Nicki took to Instagram to talk about her iconic verse. She got to collaborate with some of the biggest names in hip-hop (and Bon Iver) and managed to stand out. She remembers Kanye wasn't sure if he wanted to keep the track on MBDTF but she convinced him otherwise. He also wanted her to use her growl more but she thought it would be overkill.

She said on Instagram, Kanye called me to tell me Jay put a verse on this song & that he was still deciding if he would put it on his album. Haha. It was like an hour long call where I tried to convince him to let the song stay on his album. He felt this verse would end up being the talk of the album. I said: YOURE KANYE WEST!!!!"

Nicki starts her verse, "Pull up in the monster automobile, gangsta/ With a bad bitch that came from Sri Lanka/Yeah I'm in that Tonka color of Willy Wonka/You could be the king but watch the queen conquer." Monster went on to receive a platinum certification and became a standout on MBDTF. It featured verses from Rick Ross, Jay-Z, and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver.
