Emily Treadgold

I’m a social media addict and an expert in curating the perfect social plan for each client and tailoring it to fit their personalities. Well-versed in short-form video content and keeping up with the ever-changing algorithms.

I majored in Public Relations at the University of North Texas. After college, I took a digital internship at Weber Shandwick where I worked with digital marketing and social media for clients like American Airlines, Essilor USA, and RadioShack.

After my time at Weber, I started writing music reviews and artist interviews for various online publications and managing socials for entertainment outlets and artists. Eventually, I started my own music site, The New Nine, which has amassed over 16k followers on Instagram and 62k on TikTok. We’ve been ahead of the curve on the latest artists, publishing over 5000 pieces, including features on Lewis Capaldi, Billie Eilish, Kim Petras, Chappell Roan, and more. We hosted all womxn showcases at SXSW and in Los Angeles. The New Nine also gave me direct experience cultivating relationships with artists, managers, publicists, and writers.

My work with The New Nine landed me at Total Assault, working with artists developing their social media strategies. I’ve worked with legacy artists and with up-and-coming artists building their marketing and social media from the ground up. I created viral moments for artists on TikTok, but also created curated social plans for artist’s personalities.

My last position was at Aimi.fm, a music tech startup where I managed our active Discord server and learned about how AI can be used in collaboration with artist releases as well as product releases and app update launches. I wanted to get a jump on understanding this new tech and how to work with it not fear it.

I’m always looking for the next big thing, downloading the latest social platforms and obsessing over analytics.

The New Nine: Feminism and Music

The New Nine Origin Story

I grew up in the nineties. My first experience with fandom started with The Spice Girls. Did I necessarily like the music? Not really. I debated which one I wanted to be with my friends (Posh Spice, obviously) and I felt like part of a team. There was nothing more exciting and fun than singing “Wannabe” with my friends.

I have made most of my friends in life based on their musical taste. You learn new music through your friends, you go to shows together, and you go to festivals together. Half of my social interactions in high school were waiting in lines outside music venues. We were there for the music, the interaction with like-minded people, and to experience the artistry of the performer.

The New Nine s a place to experience original content from a uniquely fangirl perspective. We‘ve had a roster of over 15 contributors and have covered SXSW, Coachella, Hangout Fest and countless other festivals and concerts. We have a weekly playlist, features, premieres, and more. I’m so proud of this project and the mission behind it.
